My organization on Oprah!

Last week was NUTS at work. We appeared on Oprah last Friday and we were frantically preparing the minute we were asked to be on the show earlier in the week. Our president Kathy Warnick appeared along with some of the Yorkshire terriers we rescued on February 13. If you are interested in the recap of what happened click here.

If you want to see video footage of the rescue by the Humane Society of Missouri click here.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Whew! I'm running and running but never making it to the finish line. That's how I feel this week. Tonight I rewarded myself for all my hard work with a new pair of jeans from my favorite store-Tantrum. Parker is rewarding himself by deep snoring and growling in his dreams. Here is the view from where I am blogging. (taken by my phone)

This weekend my whole family is getting together so I am excited to take some photos and drink some wine! I better come home with a loaded memory card. We haven't been together since Thanksgiving and we are well overdue.

I will have all kinds of goodies to post early next week. Stay tuned!

* Congrats to Penelope and Colin who gave birth to Veda last week. Penny and I were art majors together at the University of Indianapolis and she is a fellow blogger and a very talented illustrator.

Not dwell, just remember

Each year I make mental notes of important days to remember. Some good like the first night Matt and I officially began dating.

11.22.98

And of course the day we legally vowed to be together and support each other through this thing called life.

9.14.02

Tomorrow is a somber day to remember. Our first son lost at 20 weeks- Eli Mathew

2.10.07

The day Matt lost his advisor, do-it-yourself-expert, and supporter- his Dad. Larry Collins.

2.20.06

February is not a sad month, just a month to remember. I never really thanked Elaine, Matt's mom and my parents for remembering us in the past 2 years through both losses. Elaine honored the babies by adding a light during the Loving Lights Ceremony at Johnson Memorial Hospital where Matt was born in Franklin, Indiana. My parents have purchased two bricks with the babies names inscribed at the new Children's Museum in Terre Haute. Sometimes I too easily forget they lost something those days too. The hope of being a grandparent. For my parents it will be this May when my brother and his wife will be expecting a little girl. I'm very excited to be an aunt.

Procrastinating

I'm procrastinating right now on some freelance work. So until I get the drive to start the project I wanted to blog a bit. I spent my weekend shopping for an area rug, side tables and lamps. It was torture. I swear it was. I drove and drove and drove and never found what I wanted. Because I couldn't find an area rug to replace the one in our living room I will have to rent a cleaner to clean the one we have. We have friends coming into town with a 10-month-old baby and the minute she touches that rug she may blow up into one big hive. It has to be soo dirty. I vacuum it but it is also the place that our dog dive bombs after eating. Wiping his snout up and down the carpet. It's the only carpet we have in the house so it's a prime target. I'm itching right now just thinking about how dirty it is!

We also put up a new banister on our staircase going upstairs. Not by choice- the old one ripped away from the wall last week which was definitely not safe. It looks really good now because we used wrought iron spindles to give it a more modern twist. I'll take some before and after pics. I am still staining one of the posts so it's not ready yet.

There is a chance Matt and I may be getting another dog. He's an 11-year-old boxer that just needs a place to live out the rest of his life in comfort. He was abandoned inside of a house left to starve. He was and still is skinny but incredibly sweet. I'll know by the weekend whether we decide to adopt him. I haven't broke the news to P-dog yet. I don't think he'll care. It will be the geriatric center for canines at the Collins' household.
