Cocoa bean is growing fast

The mini-marathon in Indianapolis is quickly approaching and Matt has been so dedicated to preparing for it. He's running several days a week and up to 8 miles on the weekend. Parker joins him on his short runs. I'm so excited for race day and I really hope I can make it there to see him. It will depend on when I will have surgery. I'm having a cerclage which is the stitching of the cervix and it will most likely happen right around race time. I'll know more after my appointment with my new high-risk doctor on April 6.

Today I had an 8-week ultrasound and we got to see the baby and listen to his heartbeat. So far so good! I'm still very nauseous and looking forward to that going away. My stomach doesn't ever know when I'm hungry because all I do is eat to stop the nausea. It's a vicious cycle and makes it challenging to go to work everyday. I usually daydream about wearing my fleece PJ pants and tank top while laying on my bed catching up on my shows. Oh, sometimes I just can't get home fast enough. The positive side is I have to burn some vacation days or I lose them so for the next three weeks I am working four day work weeks. This will be wonderful to know I have three days to relax and enjoy doing a whole lot of nothing. It starts this Friday!

All I Do is Eat

cereal (Matt you didn't buy Honey Nut Cheerios! Regular Cheerios are for bingo at school!)
apple
granola bar
macaroni & cheese
animal crackers
stir fry
Thin Mints
bread that tastes like a muffin but isn't a muffin
gum-when I ran out of food at the office

and I still have four more hours to go before I go to bed.

Heir to the Chocolate Dynasty

A chocolate cocoa bean is growing. 7 weeks now. Soon to be the heir to the chocolate dynasty that his Dad is creating for him. Oh, with lots of dogs too. This bean is making me as sick as ever; constantly eating and already gained 2.5 pounds. Maternity wear is close in my future.

Showers and birthdays

Matt and I traveled down to Lexington, Kentucky at the end of February to help host a baby shower for my brother and his wife Katie. We all stayed at the Lyndon House Bed and Breakfast near UK's campus. Katie's mom flew in from Denver and my mom drove down from Terre Haute. My dad was very ill with the flu and couldn't make which put a snag in my plans for family photos. May in the next decade we'll get family photos!

The shower was hosted at the b&b which made it nice for all of us and it was fun having everyone stay that night. Nothing is better than waking up to the smell of breakfast when you didn't have to cook it!

The following weekend I celebrated my 31st birthday. It has been the best yet! Matt is a great surpriser and gathered up my friends to secretly meet at a wine & chocolate bar one evening. I was definitely surprised. We had a great time that night. I wish it hadn't been Thursday- I wanted to stay out later! I'll be doing some birthday shopping this weekend which I'm pretty excited about. Gift cards feel like free money! I know Matt, they are not free. But they are to me!

Good luck to Matt who will be running in the St. Patty's Day race downtown St. Louis this Saturday. Hoping for decent weather and no rain!
